Well…at the moment I am quite depressed as I have had to come back to dreary England after a very memorable weekend away in Amsterdam! But not just that…I also managed to get myself on the brand new Koningsdam. But I’ll talk more about that tomorrow! There were so many fantastic places I visited in Amsterdam so here are the super 7….
1. Maritime Museum
For those of you that are huge cruise buffs…like me! Why not checkout the maritime museum and shape up your knowledge about everything sea-wise! The museum dates back all the way to 1656…just a few years ago then! What really surprised me was that (as you will see below) the museum is actually in the shape of a ship. See…even on land you are never really far from a ship! But if you’re a parent you might be thinking…my little ones wouldn’t last a minute in there! Well…you might be surprised to hear there is actually video games and even plays in the museum! So you will want to leave before your little ones! Although a lot of teens might find this type of thing boring…if your teens love cities and destinations then this is a great place to visit.
2. Chinese Restaurant…in Amsterdam!
If your like me…right now you are probably a bit shocked! But I tell no lie…there is a Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam! Forget the local dishes…enjoy a 5 course Chinese dinner! If you didn’t already know…I am a giant foodie so this is perfect for me. Plus…most teen’s favourite meal is Chinese so this is a great way for your fussy teens to eat what they probably eat a lot at home.
3. City Centre
Now…you might not think the city centre would be a tourist attraction, but it really was! With all the trams going around and even a bull machine in the centre…there was plenty to do! I cannot express the joy watching someone attempt to beat the joy but just embarrass themselves in front of the whole population! WARNING! Make sure you keep an eye on the trams as you never know when they will creep up on you…they did plenty of times to me!
4. Van Gough Museum
If your an arts lover (like myself) then you really don’t have a choice on this…you have to go! You probably think this is just for the much older tourists…I thought that too! So it really surprised me when some of my friends on the trip told me that when they went in the evening the museum was packed with teens and kids! But then it doesn’t surprise me when you think about how big of a legend Van Gough was!
5. Madame Tussauds…in Amsterdam!
Now if you thought Madam Tussauds was just for us brits…you were wrong! In fact…I was surprised to find out there is actually over 20 Madam Tussauds around the globe! So…why not do a world tour and visit every single one!
6. The Dungeons…in Amsterdam! Again!
I mean come on! I swear this is becoming an obsession! The question is who copied who? But I suppose on the bright side…if you haven’t done it in London, you don’t have to! I might even be cheaper.
7. Visit a cruise ship!
Sorry…couldn’t resist. But what can you expect? I couldn’t have a blog post on here not mentioning cruise ships at all! And…plenty of them come in here! That’s what I was there for after all. I was very lucky to visit Holland America’s newest beauty the Koningsdam but I will say no more till tomorrow. For now…here is a little sneak peek!
Tomorrow I will be posting all about the ship…I promise! So make sure you tune in for lots of sneak peaks of this big beauty!
