Packing for your cruise can be the absolute most important thing for you, and packing the wrong stuff can absolutely ruin your holiday. So it’s important to get it right! Here are the top 7 seven things I would always say for you to pack (especially for teens!). All of these are things that I regularly pack on my cruise.
Even if you are cruising to the Fjords…on deck you can’t tell how hot it is because of the breeze from the sea (I couldn’t!) so it is easy to burn. I know it’s really boring and us teens hate putting sunscreen on but getting burnt is a lot worse and can ruin your whole cruise. After all I am the living proof…ahaha! On my first cruise I was under the silly impression that I wouldn’t burn because of the breeze, and its safe to say..I was on FIRE!
2. The Right Shoes
3. British Adapter
One thing you may not necessarily think of to pack when going on your cruise is to take a British adapter. However unless you want to die of mobile deprivation…remember to take one! Cruise Lines such as MSC cater for European customers and so will not have British plug sockets. So that means no charged phones, Ipads etc. And none of these will be usable after the first day. So just to reiterate, that means no mobile phone for (average cruise) seven days!
4. GO-PRO Camera
This is something even the most experienced cruisers may not think of to pack, however on every cruise now I make sure I pack one of these. This is because when you’re on excursions you may not have enough hands to reach into your pocket and take a picture. And to be honest if you value your camera…it’s probably not worth it. So by taking a GO-PRO you can attach it to your head and you just have to press the little button on your head and it will take a picture. So that requires a total of…1 finger! Or you could set it recording before you begin and then you will not have to use any fingers!
If your completely new to cruising this will be a completely new concept to you. But on every cruise you will be given a lanyard or small card and you must take this around everywhere onboard with you. You will come to love this…. slip in your cabin key, put it round your neck and it leaves your hands free for gaming, eating or whatever else! Plus you never have to worry about losing your cabin key. It can also be handy for carrying your next item around…
6. Dollar Bills
Most cruise lines use American dollars for currency, so even if you are on an all-inclusive deal keep some dollars handy for tipping, shopping on board or buying souvenirs from ports of call. But try not to be tempted to buy too much…you don’t want a nasty surprise on your second day in when you have blown all your money!
7. Mobile Phone
Lets be honest…every teen knows you can’t live without it. But remember that networks don’t work out in the ocean…sorry! And if you don’t take your adapter (see item 3) you wont be able to charge it.
In other news…..I have a little secret….this Wednesday I will be going onboard the brand new AIDAprima cruise ship for the press launch in Southampton! So..make sure you check up on my blog on Wednesday! I will also be tweeting and posting on Facebook and Instragram so make sure you follow me!
