Anyone that knows me will know I am definitely a foodie, all I think about is food, food, food…as many teenagers tend to do! Well..today I was talking to a girl whose parents were trying to convince her to go on a cruise but she hates the ‘posh food’ as she described it. Well if you want the ‘posh food’ you can certainly have it…but there are plenty of other things to choose from! And of course any parent will know teens can get a bit picky with what they eat so…here are my top 7 things to eat onboard a cruise ship!
1. Johnny Rocket’s Burgers
Of course one of the ‘typical’ teens favourite food has good to be a lovely burger. This might not seem very adventurous, but then teenagers don’t want to be adventurous with their food choices. They eat burgers at home, so they will love them at sea!
2. Carnival Seadogs
After all that fun, maybe skydiving at sea, riding on the surf simulator or making a splash in one of the many pools you might start to develop a small (or large in my case) hunger. And this can certainly be fulfilled by Carnival’s famous Seadogs. Dive into a succulent (I love that word) beef hot dog. And not only that…you can even choose your favourite free toppings to go on it so you could create your daily speciality hot dog.
3. 24 hour Ice Cream Bar!
I know you’ve just had a hot dog…but got room for a desert? Um let me think…yes! Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night craving some ice cream? I have on many occasions! Well if you do wake up in the middle of the night (even at 4:00am!) craving some ice cream then this is no problem if you’re on a Carnival Ship! Yep that’s right….because on every Carnival cruise ship you will find a 24/7 ice cream parlor full of every possible ice cream you can think of! What a perfect way to end a day of relaxing under the sun!
Voted by USA Today as the ‘Best Pizza at Sea’ Princess Cruises can tickle your taste buds with some of the most famous Pizza in the world! Travelling back to their Italian Heritage, onboard a Princess ship you can try one of the famous Neapolitan-style pizzas. Which are freshly baked and tossed right by you on deck! And of course there are so many different ones to choose from, from the traditional Margarita pizzas to pepperoni and even the daily specials! Yep daily specials for a pizza! The temptation to resist is nearly impossible!
5. Cherry on Top Candy Store!
Everyone knows that there is no better time to treat yourself than on a cruise! And if you head down to the Cherry on Top Candy Store on most of the Carnival ships you can certainly do this! The Cherry on Top Candy Store is a store packed with candy (and more!) onboard where you can find some of your favourites from all over the globe! And of course, a great place to pick up any last-minute birthday presents! Just double-check they are allowed across customs as unfortunately (ahah!) you will have to eat them all up. What a shame…ahah!
6. Food Republic
If you have read my blog post, from my time onboard the Norwegian Escape you will have heard of the fabulous onboard Food Republic! Although I did say earlier that most of the time teens just like to eat what they have at home..sometimes teenagers may feel a bit spontaneous! And when this spontaneity kicks in (which it tends to on a cruise!) you may want to try out some Asian food at the Food Republic…and even order off an Ipad!
7. Ice Cream Parlour
I know I’ve already spoken about ice cream…but I just couldn’t resist this! If you have ever been on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, then you will know of the famous Ice Cream Parlours! In the onboard Parlour you can have an array of Milkshakes & Sundaes. But it doesn’t end there…you can also find an endless amount of toppings like whipped cream and hot fudge sauce to indulge in.
So it’s safe to say if you are a foodie (like myself!) then you will not be disappointed onboard a cruise ship!
